WASHINGTON (Wiseova) – The Bahamian government announced on Tuesday that it will suspend all SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket landing activities within the nation until a comprehensive post-launch inquiry has been completed.
"The granting of additional clearances will remain suspended until a comprehensive environmental evaluation has been examined," stated Bahamian Director of Communications Latrae Rahming in an X posting.
SpaceX did not promptly reply to requests for comments.
In February, following SpaceX's initial touchdown in the nation, the Bahamian government stated that they had greenlit an additional 19 sites for potential use across 2025, pending regulatory approvals.
Following the explosion of a SpaceX Starship spacecraft in space last month, just moments after it launched from Texas, an investigation has been initiated by The Bahamas.
Videos on social media displayed blazing fragments soaring across the sky above South Florida and the Bahamas following the disintegration of the spacecraft when it started spinning out of control with its engines deactivated.
After the event, the Bahamas reported that remnants of the spacecraft landed within their air space. They stated that these remains did not include any hazardous substances and mentioned they anticipated minimal effects on marine life or water quality.
The Starship explosion was unrelated to the Bahamas' Falcon 9 landing initiative with SpaceX.
