Law Enforcement Cranks Up Patrols for Easter Weekend

LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) - If you intend to head out for the Easter festivities this weekend, police officers and emergency personnel urge you to practice responsible behavior.

Officials are urging residents not to operate vehicles if they have consumed alcohol. Recently, the Texas Department of Transportation initiated a distracted driving initiative aimed at reducing accidents.

Sergeant Erick Estrada from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) thinks that stepping up law enforcement efforts will aid in averting accidents on highways.

This initiative aims to support nearby law enforcement agencies in combating distracted driving. Another significant concern we face is people choosing to drive under the influence," Estrada stated. "We're all too aware of the severe risks associated with drunk driving. Let this serve as a reminder: not only could you have your driver’s license revoked, but you also risk causing harm to both others and yourself.

A few crucial suggestions to aid in maintaining road safety encompass:

  • Devote your complete focus to the road.
  • Avoid being on your phone.
  • If you have to use your phone, stop at the side of the road.
  • Consuming alcohol before driving may lead to significant penalties including substantial fines and imprisonment.
